Shail Vyas, MD
Shail Vyas, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with specialized training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. Dr. Vyas provides comprehensive orthopaedic and sports medicine care at Orange County Orthopaedic Group in Anaheim Hills, California.
Dr. Vyas earned his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine (known as the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA). He stayed in Los Angeles to finish his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
Then, Dr. Vyas went on to complete specialized training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the world-famous University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Center for Sports Medicine in Pittsburgh. There, he trained under world-renowned orthopaedic surgeons, including Dr. Freddie Fu, Dr. Christopher Harner, and Dr. James Bradley. During this fellowship, Dr. Vyas served as team physician for several college and professional sports teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.
After his fellowship, Dr. Vyas returned to California with expertise in sports medicine and orthopaedic surgery. He has a special interest in arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery and enjoys treating knee problems that involve ligament, cartilage, or meniscus injuries. He also has expertise in treating shoulder problems, including rotator cuff injuries, shoulder impingement, labral tears, and shoulder instability.
In addition to providing both surgical and nonsurgical treatments for the full spectrum of orthopaedic conditions and sports injuries, Dr. Vyas has published numerous research articles and book chapters in his field. He prides himself on providing modern, minimally invasive treatment as well as patient education and quality communication.
